The aggregate quarry of Jebel Ressas

Aggregates are the world most consumed main raw material after water. It’s the most used natural materials by human kind for the construction of their housing and the development of their environment.

For more than three decades, Jebel Ressas - Mornag's quarry has provided the largest share of the national aggregates market for construction and public works companies.

With two production lines, able to produce 4 million tons of aggregates per year, the quarry is positioned as a market leader in terms of quantity but also in terms of quality.

The quarry of Jebel Ressas generously produces calcareous aggregates, marls and clays as well as marl-limestones. This fact allows it to supply a wide range of fields such as the industry of ceramics, cement factories or construct and public work

The production cycle

Step 1:

Extraction

Materials’ extraction takes place after a long cycle of preparatory work which includes:

  • The stage of the topsoil stripping, which is done by bulldozers or by shovels.
  • The phase of the extraction of the altered rock due to explosive shots. Once the sound rock is discovered, we move on to slaughtering by explosives.

The slaughter products are then loaded by the wheel loader and transferred to the crushing and screening plants.

Step 2:

Transfer

Transfer to grinding and sieving plants is carried out via dumpers or semi-trailers.

Step 3:

Crushing and Screening

The materials are first inserted into the feed hoppers to undergo scalp selection in order to separate between the pebbles and the fine ores.
These fine ores are then conveyed to the scalping products stocks.
The pebbles afterward forwarded to a series of crushers in order to reduce the size of aggregates and obtain smaller and smaller fractions.

After each crusher, the products are routed through a vibro-sieve to select the aggregates according to their size. Indeed, the sieving allows only the elements below a certain size to pass through its meshes. It is so possible to obtain aggregates of various sizes after successive sieving.

The products obtained are either:

  • Loaded directly on trucks and / or semi-trailers by activating the automatic loading tunnels.
  • Or stored in heaps and per fraction.

Step 4:

Storage

Materials are stored in piles by categories:

  • Crushing sand
  • Chipping
  • Gravelr
  • Ballast
  • Cement blocks
  • Run material
  • Reconstituted Crushed Gravel
  • Reconstituted Humidified Gravel
  •  Riprap
  • Blocks

Step 5:

Delivery

Delivery of the end-products is carried out either by:

  • Loading tunnels directly on trucks and / or semi-trailers.
  • Loaders that serve customers from finished product stocks. The entire aggregate transport fleet is systematically trapped, and all deliveries are weighed using weighbridges.

Means of production

The Jebel Ressas aggregate quarry is equipped with

  • A production plant consisting of two complete crushing and sieving lines and an extension of a nominal capacity of 800 tons / hour. It is also equipped with crushers, sieves, hoppers, conveyor belts, etc.
  • A varied range of construction equipment, among which we can find:

    1Bulldozer.

12dumpers with a load capacity up to 70 tons.

    15wheel loaders.

    5hydraulic excavators.

4set of pneumatic and hydraulic drilling.

    1Motor grader.

    1 tractor for watering tracks.

  • Various maintenance workshops: mechanical, electrical, electronic, welding, etc.
  • A pumping and washing station.
  • Weighing equipment.
